Gold Pickguard

Gold Pickguard
Small guitar problem?

Well, I have a little issue, or so I think. I just purchased a Fender Strat Standard today in white so I can eventually build it up and turn it into David Gilmour’s 0001. My question though is:

That is the correct size of a pickguard to fit my Strat, but in order to complete the look of 0001, I need this pickguard that I will link below, which supposedly won’t fit my guitar because it was made for a 57 Strat model.

So my question is, are 57 Strats and Standard Strats really that different, and would the gold pickguard fit my Standard Strat? Any help as usual would be really appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Gilmours white #0001 strat is probably not as good as the one you have already. The pickups and hardware are probably better anyway.
As far as the sizing of the two pickguards, it’s possible that the locations of the knobs and switch may be a liitle different,
They look the same but all it takes is a few thousandths of an inch to mess everything up.

visit this site:

BTW I think you want color #6 CREAM rather than gold for the pickguard. It may even once have been a white pickguard, but is so aged that it has that goldish/cream color
I couldn’t find a true description of the guitar to find out, but saw one blog about building a#0001 strat that mention the gold pickguard. So I’m not sure. But if you look at your picture you can see the aging and different colorations of the guard.

Do a tracing of the pickguard you have, just to make sure that the mounting holes line up properly and send it to them.

there is also

http://www.terrapinguitars.com/

for pickguards

there are lots of custom pick guard sites, just google “custom pickguards”
You also might just contact Fender at fender.com see if you can order a cream colored pickguard for a standard strat.
I’m sure most new replacement pickguards will fit a Real Fender Strat.

It’s the Squier models that seem to have a problem with the mounting locations.

BTW your links don’t work. but I checked the site and saw the pickguard for the 57. the color looks about right, but you might look again and see if gilmour’s is just an aged cream color.
